Course Duration
  • 12 months excluding campus, holidays and examinations.
Campus Classes
  • There will be two campus programmes, one at the beginning and one towards the end. 
  • Two campus visits of 5 days duration.
  • The campus visit fee will be INR 40,000/- (i.e. INR 4,000/- per day) excluding Service Tax.
  • The visit at the Joka campus is a crucial component of EPBM course; it provides an opportunity to the participants to have face to face interactions with the faculty.
Class Schedule
  • Thursdays 6.45 PM - 9.45 PM; Sundays 3.30 PM – 6.30 PM (6.45 PM to 9.45 PM for first two months) 
  • But few make up classes may be held on other days
  • Break periods: Monsoon: 8th August to 15th August ; Winter: 25th December to 2nd January, all days inclusive
Evaluation Methodology 
Participants are evaluated on the basis of examinations for all the courses (Written exams, online exams and assignments). Participants will be given any one of the following grades: “Excellent”; “Good”; “Average”; or “Poor.” The cut-off marks for the grades will be revealed but not the actual marks obtained.Those getting not more than two “Poor” grades will get a certificate of successful completion of the EPBM course and the course-wise grades obtained will be mentioned in the certificate. Those getting more than two “Poor” grades will get only a certificate of participation in the EPBM course. In such cases, the grade will not be mentioned in the certificate. 

IIM Calcutta shall carry out the examination and evaluation required for certification. IIM Calcutta will directly award a certificate of completion to participants who complete the EPBM course successfully. Giving feedback is an integral part of the completion requirements of the EPBM course.

The pedagogy will be highly interactive. It will leverage use of technology and will consist of, depending on the subject, a judicious blend of lectures, real life case studies, quizzes and assignments.

Who Should Attend 
Middle & Senior level working executives and professionals in business organizations may apply for this program. The program offers quality interactions with experienced executives, and peer group learning as average experience of the participants is around 8-10 years.

  • Applicants should be working professionals/self-employed.
  • Graduates (10+2+3) / post graduates in any discipline with min. 50% marks [aggregate - considering results of all years (e.g. 3 or 4 together)] recognized by UGC/AICTE.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience (full-time paid employment) post completion of graduation as on Application Closure Date.
Selection Procedure
  • An Entrance Test will be conducted to select eligible candidates to the EPBM course. Candidates who qualify the above eligibility criteria will be considered for the Entrance Test. Final Selection will be made basis the candidates’ performance in the Entrance Test. No deviations to the laid out Eligibility Criteria (unless otherwise mentioned above) will be considered.   • Desired Proficiencies in the Candidate (in addition to the Eligibility Criteria) – Proficiency in English since it would be the medium of instruction.
  • Basic numerical ability and mathematical skills - including Algebra (e.g. Equation of Straight Line), Basic Differential & Integral Calculus and Ability to Interpret Graphs.

Program Details 
Spread over one year, the program provides the participants with skills for leadership in the knowledge economy through an innovative curriculum. Faculty from IIMC and distinguished visiting faculty from reputed academic institutions and industry handle these courses. 

The program curriculum focuses on equipping the participants:

The in-campus component is held at the end of the 1-year Program. This is a crucial component covering 5 days, which provides the participants an orientation towards case based learning. It is compulsory for all participants.

Professor Manisha Chakrabarty

Dr. Manisha Chakrabarty is an Associate Professor in the Economics Department at IIM-C. Dr. Chakrabarty holds a Ph.D. from the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta. She also has Masters in Science from Calcutta University with specialization in Statistics and Econometrics along with a Bachelors in Science from the same University. Dr. Chakrabarty’s research interests include Applied Econometrics, Development Economics and Applied Finance. She has also undertaken consulting assignments in areas of Gender Issues, Inclusive Growth particularly for target groups of population, Program Evaluation, Education and Poverty Analysis. She teaches Macroeconomics, Econometric Methods, Applied Macroeconometrics, Financial Econometrics, Quantitative Research Methods and Topics in Advanced Econometrics at IIM-C.

Professor Sudip Chaudhuri

Sudip Chaudhury photo

Dr Sudip Chaudhuri is a Professor of Economics at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. The courses taught by him include Macroeconomics, Industrial Policy, Management of the Economy, Economics of Development. His research interests include industrial policy, role of state in developing countries and intellectual property rights. He has published widely including a book on WTO and India’s Pharmaceuticals Industry: Patent Protection, TRIPS and Developing Countries, Oxford, University Press. The book was quoted extensively in the recent Supreme Court judgment on the Novartis patent case. He has done commissioned studies for various organizations including the World Health Organization, Geneva, United Nation Development Programme, New York, United Nations Industrial Development Organization, Vienna, Reserve Bank of India and the Government of India.

Professor Suren Sista

Suren Sista Photo

Professor Suren Sista, Assistant Professor, Marketing group at IIM-C, is a Fellow of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. He is also a Post-Graduate in Marketing Communications from Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad, and a B.Sc. from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He has worked as a researcher in AC Nielsen (erstwhile ORG-MARG) and IMRB International (erstwhile IMRB). He has also undertaken consulting assignments on the business of sports, and entertainment. His teaching and research interests are in the area of Marketing, Relationship Marketing, and Research Methods. He was a Dr. D C Pavate Research Fellow at Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge.
